Trish takes over this episode to represent for the ladies that race!!! She sits down with Jessica Rose from District 23 Hare scramble Series and Cassie Swanson from International Watercross Series to talk about the common bond among female riders from different styles of riding. May 4th marks International Female Ride Day so get out and ride ladies!
Jessica Rose was born and raised in Minnesota. She joined the Marine Corps at 18 and spent the next 23 years stationed in North Carolina and Arizona as an aircraft mechanic. When she returned to Minnesota, she started making new friends, who happened to race dirt bikes. One evening, a friend suggested that a YZ125 would be a great bike for her, and a couple weeks later she was the proud owner of one. With 2 weeks of seat time, Jessica completed her first D23 Hare scramble. She competed in most of the Hare scramble and Enduro races that season and brought home a season 2nd place overall for Women’s Enduros. In one year, she rode and competed in 9 states, also including ice racing and motocross. She is also a runner and competes in ultra marathons. Jessica is currently 42 with 3 kids, and enjoys her hobby farm and working on her bikes. Going forward, her goal is to further develop her riding skills and have as much fun as possible and travel in the process.
This coming summer will be Cassie’s 6th year racing with the International Watercross Association. She currently races in the Women’s ovals and Pro Stock oval classes. In the past years she has been awarded rookie of the year, and most improved driver twice, as well as winning season points several times. She races alongside her brother, who started racing a couple years before her, and also with a small group of other racers that are apart of GLH Performance. She is originally from Ely, Minnesota which is also a location of one of the International Watercross races.
